A GoodLife Fitness Gym in Brampton has closed its doors after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 last week.

On August 11, an associate at the Brampton Gateway Club, located at 499 Main Street South, tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement by Tracy Matthews, Vice President of Operations, GoodLife Fitness.

All members at the club were notified as well as those who were in the gym at the same time as the associate.

“Since the affected Associate indicated they were in close proximity with a small number of other Associates while in the Club, these individuals are self-isolating and awaiting test results, or have received negative COVID-19 test results,” said Matthews.

“Given the nature of this situation, and in order to provide the most responsible and best Member experience possible, we decided to proactively close the Club for a period of time.”

After a thorough clean, the club will reopen on August 17 at 3 pm.

“GoodLife has taken tremendous strides to implement measures that are designed to decrease the risk of transmission in our Clubs, even if someone who tests positive for COVID-19 has been in our facility,” said Matthews.

Staff who have tested negative for the virus or passed a thorough screening test will be at the location, ensuring PPE is worn, physical distancing is enforced and health protocols are followed.
