Toronto's newest taqueria and tortillería spot is now open

Toronto’s latest source for top-notch tacos has finally opened.

Good Hombres is ready for business at Bathurst just north of Dundas, and is the latest taqueria and tortillería from Daniel Roe, Javier Flores, and Raena Fisher – the same folks behind Campechano.

The new space is dual purpose tortilleria, where patrons can buy fresh nixtamal tortillas and masa, and taqueria, for tacos to eat in or take out.

Prior to opening earlier this year, Roe told Daily Hive that on the tortilla side, Good Hombres look forward to showcasing “a very traditional tortilla machine that we brought from Mexico City. Tortillas will be sold by weight and will be made in front of you as you order them.

“Our goal is to teach people that tortillas are not a product you put in your fridge for the week, they are a fresh product – just like a French baguette – and they will be sold by weight so you can buy whatever amount you want.”

Meanwhile, on the taqueria side, “it will be loud and messy – hopefully bringing Mexicans back to their neighbourhood tortilleria.”

Expect quick service, featuring a new menu of tacos that “will be cheap, simple and delicious,” plus seating at a long bar overlooking the tortilla machine and kitchen.
