Select frontline workers can travel for free on the 407 ETR
Those on the front lines of COVID-19 will be able to travel for free on one of Ontario’s longest tolled highways.
The 407 ETR Concession Company announced that it will be donating $170,000 so that firefighters, EMS personnel, and food bank workers from across the GTA won’t have to pay the freeway’s tolls.
The company said that gift cards have been given to organizations from Hamilton to Oshawa, and will be distributed to staff and volunteers accordingly.
“We’ve been grappling with COVID-19 for almost a year now and though it’s wearing on us all, our community heroes continue to show up every day to help others in need,” said Javier Tamargo, the president and CEO of 407 ETR.
“We hope that this gesture of appreciation will lift their spirits and lighten their travel to and from work.”
In April 2020, 407 ETR provided $300,000 worth of free travel to Ontario’s hospital workers.
