More comfort food? Yes, please! From Miami to Toronto, Laid Fresh and Chikin are opening in the city this weekend to save you from your cravings.

On February 26, award-winning Miami chef Michael Lewis will be opening two new delivery-only concepts with the help of REEF Neighbourhood Kitchens, the same name behind Wendy’s first ghost kitchen in the country.

Both concepts will be open from 9 am to 3 am, with free delivery on orders over $20.

According to the team behind the restaurants, by using a “neighbourhood kitchen” with a Toronto address, they are able to expand into new markets.

Laid Fresh will be showing off its all-day breakfast-style menu, which features a bunch of egg-centric sandwiches.

As for Chikin, having first launched in Montreal, the menu will consist of Korean-inspired fried chicken sandwiches, Asian-fusion sides, and crispy wings, to name a few.

Since Korean fried chicken gained quick popularity in Miami, according to Lewis, he decided it was time to bring it to Canada.

“Korean Fried Chicken exploded in popularity in Miami, becoming a hugely hot item. So, we thought, why not give the people what they want,” said Chef Michael Lewis.

“This possibility for expansion in Canada and testing recipes in different markets is very exciting for us. It gives us the chance to be creative and really concentrate on what we do – giving people quality, comfort food they love and flavour they crave.”

They will both be available via Uber Eats, DoorDash and Skip the Dishes.
