Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement on Monday afternoon as Ontario’s COVID-19 cases increase and more businesses reopen in hotspots.

On Saturday, outdoor dining was allowed to reopen in Toronto and Peel.

Over the weekend, COVID-19 cases also increased with Saturday’s 1,829 and Sunday’s 1,791—Saturday’s being the highest case counts in over a month.

Starting today, those 75 and older will be able to book an appointment to get vaccinated in Ontario, with the province trying to ramp up vaccinations.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board, to make the announcement.

The press briefing will be at 1 pm in Scarborough.
