Ford to make announcement as Ontario's COVID-19 cases remain high

Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement on Thursday afternoon as the province continues to report high daily COVID-19 cases.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, and Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.

For the last four days cases have been above 1,700 with Wednesday’s 1,723Tuesday’s 1,707, Monday’s 1,746, Sunday’s 1,708, with Saturday’s 1,822, and Friday’s record-breaking 1,855.

However, the premier wants to reduce the 14-day quarantine time at Toronto Pearson airport amid the second wave which is seeing higher numbers than the first wave.

The press briefing will take place at 1 pm from Queen’s Park.
