Ford to make announcement with Brampton Mayor today

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement today with the Brampton Mayor and Education Minister.

On Thursday, Ford will make his remarks with Mayor Patrick Brown and Minister Stephen Lecce at 1 pm.

It’s possible that with Lecce at the briefing the announcement could be on Ontario schools plan come September, with many pushing for a return to a five day in-person week, which the minister and premier have supported.

On Wednesday, Ford said he supports outdoor learning if it can help facilitate the five day school week and said school boards need to be “creative” with their solutions for when kids return in the fall.

In June, the Ontario government created three plans for how students could return to class in the fall.

The three options include returning full time to in-person instruction while adhering to public health measures, continuing remote learning, or taking part in the hybrid model, which sees a maximum of 15 students per class on alternative days or weeks.
