Police investigating after female pedestrian killed in hit and run in north Toronto

Toronto police are investigating a hit and run that killed a woman in the city’s north end Thursday morning.
Police said an unknown vehicle was in the northbound lane at Islington Avenue and Aviemore when it struck a pedestrian who was in the middle of the road and continued driving.
Officers said they received a call about the hit and run at 6:32 am and when they arrived at the scene, they located the woman without vitals.

Police have described the vehicle involved as a black SUV and investigators believe the vehicle may have front-end damage to its headlamp as a result of the collision.

As the traffic services unit continues the investigation, Islington is closed in both directions at the intersection. Police say the closures will be in effect for two hours or more.
Anyone who may have dashcam or security footage of the intersection is asked to contact police.
Additionally, if you’re the driver, investigators said they want to hear from you.
