A new collaborative dinner series just launched in Toronto with the aim of showcasing and supporting the advancement of women in the culinary industry.

Open Kitchen Toronto, presented by restaurateurs Stacey Patterson and Jennifer Coburn, along with Chef Ivana Raca kicks off a Ufficio on Monday, March 5, followed by monthly installments featuring other prominent female chefs from across Toronto.

The inaugural three-course dinner is a collaborative effort from Chef Ivana Raca along with Afrim Pristine (Cheese Boutique), Cory Vitiello (Flock), Sarah Keenlyside (CXBO), and bartender Sandy de Almeida (The Drake) and will showcase Ufficio’s signature Italian pescatarian cuisine with cocktail and wine pairings.

“Being a chef is my life,” says chef Ivana Raca in a press release. “Having the chance to hone my skills in a supportive environment was invaluable. For me, the kitchen team has always been a family and I want to support new female chefs the way I’ve always been supported throughout my career.”

Funds raised from the event series will go towards the creation of two George Brown scholarships for budding female chefs.

Donna Dooher of Mildred Temple’s Kitchen will hosts the second edition on April 18 while Chefs Lora Kirk and Lynn Crawford helm the May 14 event at Leslieville’s Ruby Watchco.
