For its third year, ‘Fast in the 6’ returns to Nathan Phillips Square for an evening of fun, food, and celebration.

On May 24, ‘Fast in the 6’ will bring together thousands of people to “celebrate the diversity and inclusion that makes Toronto great.”

In the spirit of Ramadan, the event invites Torontonians and visitors alike to come together and participate in the simple yet powerful act of sharing a meal.

And with an event focusing on the importance of food, you know the bites are going to be good.

Here’s what you have to look forward to:

Frankfurters

Maple Lodge Farms

Freshco and Maple Lodge Farms will be handing out free food to all guests at sunset, which is when you’ll be able to tuck into a Zabiha Halal Spicy Supreme Frankfurter.

Peking duck poutine

Me.n.u food truck

This Chinese dish from Me.n.u food truck consists of strips of roast duck served with a sweet sauce in a poutine form. Me.n.u will also be serving up tacos and fries.

Fried chicken

Cluck Clucks

Fried chicken served up in crispy waffle cones will be available from Cluck Clucks. Look forward to a variety of flavours including Spicy BBQ, Sweet and Spicy Thai and Tangy Ranch.

Halo Halo split

The Crane Express

The Halo Halo split is a popular cold Filipino dessert that consists of crushed ice, evaporated milk all mixed with various sweet beans, coconut flavoured jellies, tapioca, sago, and topped off with ube ice cream and a drizzle of condensed milk. The Crane Express will be serving this delicious sweet treat, plus popcorn chicken!

Cold pressed juices

Nectar Drops

Nectar Drops will be serving their Oasis Haven Nut Milk and Activated Coconut Charcoal Splash.

Guests can also look forward to BeaverTails and free coffee, specialty coffee, and hot chocolate from McCafe. Proceeds from the event, and extra food, will be donated to Daily Bread Foodbank and Second Harvest.

Fast in the 6’s motto is “Diversity. Unity. Prosperity.” and that comes through in the planning and organization of the event. After all, the whole thing was inspired by the huge meals that founders Dany and Lisa Assaf have with their families after sunset during Ramadan.

Together with the City of Toronto, Maple Lodge, FreshCo, TD, Air Canada, RBC, KPMG, DBRS, Oxford, and Torys, the Assafs are bringing Toronto together in the most delicious way possible.

Make sure you RSVP on Facebook and get yourself over for this scrumptious event.
