It appears an ex-Toronto Blue Jays player will be joining the team’s front office next season.
After officially retiring from baseball, 30-year-old Gosuke Katoh posted on social media that he had accepted a role with the Blue Jays front office. Katoh appeared in just eight MLB games throughout his career, all of which came with Toronto back in 2022.
He most recently played in Japan with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
プロ野球選手としての現役生活を終え、新たにトロント・ブルージェイズのフロントに加わることになりました。温かい応援、本当にありがとうございました。新たなステージでも精一杯頑張ります!

Born in California, Katoh spent the majority of his life playing baseball in the United States. He was initially drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft. He stayed with the organization until 2019 when he signed a minor league deal with the Miami Marlins. He then moved to the San Diego Padres organization before finally finding his way to the Blue Jays, signing a deal in December 2021.
He cracked the team’s opening night lineup and recorded his first MLB hit during that brief eight-game span, but the Jays eventually waived him. The New York Mets claimed Katoh, but he was unable to appear in a game.
With his MLB future looking bleak, Katoh entered the Nippon Professional Baseball Draft in 2022, where he was selected by the Ham Fighters. He played two seasons in Japan before hanging up the cleats.
The Jays have not yet made an official announcement, and Katoh’s role in the organization is also unclear. As the MLB offseason wears on, however, clarity on Katoh’s role will surely be provided.
