Environment Canada issues special weather statement for Toronto ahead of Halloween

Environment Canada has issued another special weather statement for Toronto as “significant” rain and gusty winds are expected through Thursday.

If you’re planning on dressing up for Halloween, you’re going to need an umbrella, as rain, which is expected to be heavy at times, is expected this afternoon and into the evening.

Additional rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 mm are expected, for total amounts of 30 to 50 mm by later tonight. According to Environment Canada, the heaviest rain is expected this afternoon into early this evening.

In addition to the rainfall, Environment Canada says strong westerly wind gusts of 70 or 80 km/h are possible tonight into Friday morning.

As for the temperature, it will be a high of 12ºC today and will drop down to a chilly 1ºC  for Halloween night.

If you’re driving this evening and visibility is reduced, the weather agency advises turning on headlights and maintaining a safe following distance, as pedestrians are more difficult to see when it is dark and raining.

Whatever you get up to this Halloween, don’t forget your umbrella and for safe measure, your parka.
