Environment Canada issues heat warning for Toronto

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Toronto, as Monday’s humid conditions are expected to continue through the week.

According to the weather agency, hot weather is expected today through Wednesday.

“High daytime temperatures near 30 are expected this afternoon and temperatures are forecast to be slightly higher Tuesday and Wednesday. Humidex values in the mid to upper thirties are also expected. There may be some relief near the lakeshores,” states the warning.

Earlier, The Weather Network stated Toronto is expected to feel like 36°C on Tuesday. On Monday, temperatures in the city are expected to rise, with a high of 27°C, but will feel more like 34°C.

Environment Canada is showing similar heat throughout the week.

Extreme heat affects everyone, states the warning.

“Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle,” it says.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
