Environment Canada issues Heat Warning for Toronto

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Toronto.

According to the weather agency, significant heat and humidity will arrive on Friday.

“Daytime temperatures in the low to mid thirties with afternoon humidex values of 40 or higher and night time minimum temperatures in the low to mid twenties are expected for Friday and Saturday,” reads the warning.

But some relief is on the way as a cooler and less humid air mass is forecast to arrive in the wake of a weak cold front Sunday.

Extreme heat affects everyone, says Environment Canada, but the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and people working or exercising outdoors.

Environment Canada warns to never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

While the high is forecast to be around 33°C on Friday, the humidex will make it feel more like 45°C, according to The Weather Network. Saturday will also be hot, with the humidex feeling more like 43°C.

Temperatures are currently showing in the mid-20s next week, which is much cooler than what it’s been this week.

Stay hydrated, Toronto.
