Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for Toronto.
As of Tuesday morning, the statement said that possible high levels of air pollution are expected today.
“A special air quality statement is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations in the area,” states Environment Canada.
Symptoms such as coughing, throat irritation, headaches, and shortness of breath may be experienced by individuals. Environment Canada warns that children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
The city is supposed to get up to a high of 29°C today, with a humidex of 34°C. The UV is also high at 9, according to Environment Canada.
