Calgary-born singer Tate McRae has been on the radio a lot lately, and now a new song dropped by Toronto-native Drake even mentions the star.

The rapper name-dropped the “2 Hands” singer in his latest song, “Small Town Fame.” Drake states, “Poppin’ out in Arizona, b*tch, I feel like Tate McRae, vanilla ice and white hoes, straight cake, uh.”

Fans of the singer took to social media to express their feelings towards the name-drop, which also mentioned three-time Grammy Award winner Charli XCX.

“LEAVE HER ALONE PLEASE GO BACK TO BEEFING WITH KENDRICK,” wrote one X user. Another stated, “Never in a million years would I ever see Drake name-drop Tate McRae.”

“Why did Drake shout out Tate McRae on his album I’m crying and wtf he know about that,” one X user posted, and another user pointed out the timing coinciding with her next album, saying, “Drake giving Tate free promo a week before her album is what we love to see.”

The lyric even caught the attention of McRae herself, who posted the lyrics of the song to her Instagram story on Friday.
