Oct 8 2019, 5:29 pm

From October 17 to 20, Square One will light up with its first-ever Diwali Festival of Lights celebration.

Presented by Culture Market Co., the shopping centre’s Diwali Market will feature food, fashion, beauty, dance, and traditions of Diwali.

Held in support of Seva Food Bank, a not-for-profit organization in Mississauga that provides food to low-income families, the event is dedicated to driving meaningful connections through culture, Culture Market Co.’s founder, Anita Saini, said in a release.

Anticipate a list of carefully curated vendors representing some of the most notable South Asian food, lifestyle, fashion, and beauty brands, plus special programming including live dance performances, henna art, and food sampling.

Plus, Nav Bhatia, Toronto Raptors- and 905-ambassador, will kick-off festivities on opening night with a special guest appearance.

To emphasize the spirit of giving that’s associated with Diwali, guests are asked to donate a non-perishable food item to Seva Food Bank upon entering the market, which will help build up stock for the winter season.

“Drawing from my upbringing as a first-generation Canadian in a Hindu household, my aim with this market is to deliver an immersive, fun, and interactive Diwali celebration that showcases customs and traditions that shoppers will truly enjoy. We hope that the market sparks giving and generosity in the community, underscoring the spreading of light that Diwali is known for,” Saini said.

So grab a canned good and hop onto the bus, because you’re not going to want to miss this bright and beautiful event.
