There’s one major event happening over the weekend that welcomes spring, but doesn’t welcome vehicle traffic.

The Greek Independence Day Parade will be taking place in Greektown on Sunday. As a result, Danforth Avenue from Donlands Avenue to Broadview Avenue will be fully closed on Sunday, March 24 from 11 am to 5 pm.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out and participate in the event. Businesses in the local areas will be open to pedestrian traffic, but some roads in the area will be closed to vehicles.

A map of this event closure is available here.

There will also be a Line 1 TTC closure on Saturday between Lawrence and St. Clair stations.

In addition to road closures related to special events, a significant amount of road work is taking place in the city. People are encouraged to take public transit as a greener, faster and more affordable way of getting to their destinations.

Those who need to drive in the general vicinity of special events should allow extra time to get to and from their destinations. Detailed information on upcoming events and road work is available here and here respectivly.
