If you recently purchased some baked goods from Costco Canada, you may want to take a closer look after the retailer issued a new recall.

On March 16, Costco Canada shared a notice from manufacturer Give and Go Prepared Foods, alerting customers that it’s recalling a popular baked item due to a possible risk of mould. The company said that it identified a potential for mould growth in The Worthy Crumb Cheddar Chive Scones before the indicated best-before date.

Give and Go Prepared Foods said it received three complaints linked to the product, and added that it found limited cases of mould that may cause minor illness if ingested.

The recall affects The Worthy Crumb Cheddar Chive Scones sold at Costco warehouses or Costco Business Centres between December 2025 and February 2026. The container includes nine pieces of cheddar and chive scones and weighs a total of 660 grams.

If you have the affected product, do not consume, serve, sell, or distribute it. Customers can return the item to a Costco warehouse for a full refund.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a similar recall for the same product on March 9, marking it a class three recall.

According to the agency, a class three recall is when there’s “low risk that consuming the food may result in any undesirable health problems.”

“This class also includes food that do not pose a health risk, but that do not comply with legislation,” reads the site.

Costco Canada has also recently announced that it’s recalling several products, including the Delici Dubai Chocolate Mousse and the Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice.
