The 2017 Canadian East Coffee Championship is taking place in Toronto this weekend.

On from August 18 to August 20, the free weekend-long event includes various competitions, networking events, and coffee tasting sessions around Toronto.

Marquee events include the AeroPress Championships presented by Toronto Coffee Community on August 18 at Hale Coffee Company. Kicking off at 6 pm, the competition will see 27 competitors go head-to-head to brew the most delicious cup of coffee with an AeroPress coffee maker.

The headline event is the East Qualifiers for the Canadian Barista Championship, taking place at noon on August 20 at Lakeview Terrace at the Harbourfront Centre. Participating baristas will be tasked with creating three sets of espresso-based drinks within 15 minutes to present to a panel of sensory judges with the winner advancing to the Nationals for a chance to represent Canada at the World Barista Championship in Seoul, South Korea in November.
