Outrageous CNE-style rice hotdog spot opens this week with $3 deal

Jun 9 2020, 3:40 pm

For the last few months, the simplest memories have been the fondest: comfortably taking the TTC, hugging a pal you haven’t seen in a while, and trying Toronto’s most fun foods.

If the latter really hits you where it hurts, you’ll want to take advantage of this week’s opportunity to taste the offerings at a new Bloor West resto.

Chungchun will be opening its doors at 615 Bloor Street West on Wednesday, June 10, marking the first day the neighbourhood can enjoy their souped-up rice hotdogs.

Over-the-top and outrageous, the snacks-on-a-stick are akin to what you’d find at the CNE this summer, if it was still happening.

Like a Pogo but better, these all-beef dogs are coated in rice flour, and then topped with extra flavourful and crunchy add-ons like ramen noodles and potatoes.

If you want to add some more texture to your treat, opt for an option stuffed with cheese or coated in ketchup, honey butter, spicy mayo, or cheese… or sugar… or a whole slew of other choices.

The eatery’s new location will open at 11:30 am on Wednesday, and for the first day of operations, all hotdogs will be priced at just $2.99. There will be a limit of two ‘dogs per person, which sounds about right for a light lunch or an afternoon snack.

If your fun-food cravings need to be satisfied, be sure to stop by and — in a physically-distanced fashion — support this spot on their first day in the neighbourhood.
