All the holiday-themed bars to check out in Toronto this season (PHOTOS)

Nov 29 2019, 8:13 pm

‘Tis the season, Toronto. And that means it’s time to dig out your tackiest Christmas sweaters and hit up the city’s holiday-themed pop-up bars.

Whether you’re looking to embrace the cold and classic Christmas cheer or you’d prefer to pretend you’re escaping to a Tiki-themed paradise, there’s a holiday bar for you this season.

Here’s where to fill up on seasonal cheer… and booze. Lots of booze.

Miracle Bar

This Christmas-themed booze hub has taken over the space at 146 Ossington Avenue, and if you aren’t already in the holiday spirit, well… you’re about to be.

While some people easily find their Christmas cheer, others struggle to feel merry and bright during the holiday season. Miracle gets it. That’s the magic.

Inspired by quirky office Christmas parties, the halls will be decked with kitschy Christmas decor. Guests are encouraged to dress in their most festive gear as they sip on seasonal cocktails, so you can take this opportunity to dig out your most cringey Christmas sweater and reindeer head-gear.

Sippin’ Santa at Project Gigglewater

Sister to the original Miracle Bar pop-up, this event boasts a tiki theme that’ll have you singin’ Mele Kalikimaka late into the night.

The spot is open seven days a week, from 5 pm on weeknights and as early as 2 pm on weekends, making it the perfect place to park it after — or before — your visit to the Toronto Christmas Market.

Unlike Miracle, this central city getaway won’t be offering the option of reservations. So, as with most special events in Toronto, arrive early or anticipate a bit of a wait.

The Thirsty Elf Pop-up Bar

For those who love to combine class with a playful vibe, the Fairmont Royal York is serving up the perfect holiday treat this season.

The Thirsty Elf pop-up bar will be taking over the former York Station space inside the hotel, running for four weekends only in the lead-up to Christmas.

Anticipate tacky festive decorations with a kitschy feel and a festive cocktail menu, offering the perfect place for your cohort of pals to don your ugliest Christmas sweaters.

Santa’s Hideout

If the big man needed a place to escape and enjoy some sick tunes, this would be the spot. Tucked away at College and Bathurst, you can slip into this venue to enjoy live music, drinks and snacks, all with a rock-n-roll meets holiday cheer kind of vibe.
