There's a 'secret' desert less than an hour outside of Toronto (PHOTOS)

Just 50 minutes from downtown Toronto, about halfway between Caledon and Erin, await some serious Arizona vibes.

Minus the cactii and guns.

Our eyes, meanwhile, tell us this gem of a spot is definitely worth a glimpse.

What makes the Cheltenham Badlands even cooler is that they’ve become kind of a secret. The Bruce Trail runs through the property, but all routes to the badlands were recently closed because of “overuse“.

According to the park, “Public access to the badlands is only available at the viewing area at the top of the badlands slope. Accessible from the road and parking area – no need to traverse sensitive areas!”

So while earlier generations of wanderers may have ruined your chance to walk across Ontario’s badlands, they have not yet destroyed your chance to see them.
