79-year-old pedestrian killed after being struck in Scarborough

A 79-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough over the weekend.

According to Toronto police, on Sunday, February 23, around 5:10 pm, the woman was crossing Victoria Park Avenue at Old Sheppard Avenue, from the west to the east side of the street.

Police say a 57-year-old female was driving a brown Lexus SUV westbound on Huntingwood Drive, before making a left turn southbound on Victoria Park Avenue.

The car then allegedly struck the pedestrian, who later died from her injuries.

Police say the driver remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by Traffic Services, and police are asking any local residents who may have security or dash camera footage of the area to contact investigators.
