Once on scene, officers and EMS assisted in removing the driver from the vehicle.

The driver was a 36-year-old female, and was the lone occupant. She wasn’t hurt in the crash.

No one else was in the pool at the time.

In a security video of the incident shared on YouTube, you can see the red car driving towards the community centre, narrowly missing a pedestrian.

The car then crashes through the front doors of the building and drives through the community centre before driving into the pool.

From the video, you can see the building sustained extensive damage.

Following the incident, the 36-year-old woman, who is from Clarington, ON, was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Mischief/Damage to Property Endangering Life and Mischief/Damage to Property over $5,000.

She was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and was held for a bail hearing.
