Canadian care home with coronavirus outbreak receives letters of love

A care home in North Vancouver, British Columbia has received letters of love and support from across Canada and beyond during a COVID-19 outbreak at the centre that has impacted both staff and residents.

The Lynn Valley Care Centre has seen a large outbreak of the coronavirus, with 51 residents 26 staff infected so far.

Sadly, there have been 15 deaths in the centre because of the coronavirus.

The care home did a call-out for well wishes on Facebook a few weeks ago, and saw an outpouring of support from the community. People offered kind words, pictures, and art for the residents to enjoy and to keep their spirits up during this difficult time.

Lynn Valley Care Centre received well wishes from those living in the Lynn Valley, and from as far away as Texas, the care home shared on Facebook.

“Every resident has received a booklet and many have said how touched they are with all the wonderful messages,” reads the post.

“It means so much to us that so many people have taken the time to send their best wishes whether it be a letter, a bright colourful picture, a cute photograph or a meaningful poem. We are so grateful that the community has been so supportive in what has been the most difficult of times.”
