After nearly four decades of growth in Canada, Cactus Club Cafe has officially crossed the border, opening the first of two new locations in the United States and selecting Boston as the launch point for its American debut.

Just earlier in December 2025, the Vancouver-based casual-dining chain reached a milestone by opening a restaurant in the historic Back Bay district of downtown Boston.

The Boston restaurant at 500 Boylston St. — located near the Northeastern University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology campuses — spans a total floor area of roughly 9,500 sq. ft., featuring more than 300 seats across indoor dining, an enclosed year-round patio, and seasonal outdoor patio spaces. It showcases the contemporary interior design and inviting ambiance that Cactus Club Cafe locations in Canada are known for.

So far, after just two weeks of business, the chain’s first U.S. restaurant has earned glowing feedback on Google Reviews, boasting a 4.9 out of five-star rating from more than 540 reviews by Bostonians.

“Canada kisses Boston. Oh, what a night. Everything promised, from beginning to end. Food, cocktails, staff — absolutely shined. We’ll be back,” reads one review.

Another notes, “They’ve only been open a week, and I’ve already been here twice.”

“This place is so refreshing for the Back Bay — let alone Boston as a whole. Incredible atmosphere and staff, and a menu that appeals to everyone,” reads another review.

“Absolutely loved our experience. The atmosphere was super vibrant and energetic—perfect for a fun night out,” another reviewer writes.

“Completely lived up to all the good things I’d heard! Easy to see why this is the hottest spot in Boston right now. The food was incredible from start to finish (can’t recommend the sticky ribs and Creole chicken enough)… The atmosphere was top-notch. We’ll definitely be back,” reads another comment on Google Reviews.

“Though simple, the food was surprisingly good. Very attentive staff. Great ambiance and atmosphere. Hope it doesn’t get too crowded,” wrote a reviewer.

“From the moment we walked in, the vibe was great. Super-friendly staff and excellent music. The bar is separated from the main dining area by glass, which keeps the restaurant feeling sexy instead of loud. The lighting and sound are perfect. The place was packed, and you could feel the bass of the music, but we had no trouble holding a conversation at our table,” one review reads.

Another wrote, “This will fast become the go-to place in downtown Boston. Loved the vibe and how the space has been designed. The service was absolutely outstanding.”

In early 2026, Cactus Club Cafe will open its second American location at the Citygroup Center tower in downtown Miami.

The very first Cactus Club Cafe restaurant, which opened in North Vancouver District in 1988, is still operating today at 1598 Pemberton Ave.

Following the upcoming opening of the Miami location, the chain will have a total of 35 locations, including 23 in British Columbia (17 in Metro Vancouver, with six within the city of Vancouver), six in Alberta, three in Ontario, and one in Saskatchewan.

Cactus Club Cafe made its first expansion outside of Western Canada in 2015, when it opened a location at First Canadian Place in downtown Toronto.
