Toronto will host the world premiere of an immersive Monet exhibit

Toronto will play host to the world premiere of a new immersive art experience this summer.

Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience is set to open for a limited engagement at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) sometime this summer, although no exact date has been announced.

According to a release, the three-part multi-sensory experience was inspired by the “intoxicating freedom” and “rejection of convention” that is found in Monet’s collection.

Swirling projections will bring the Impressionist’s paintings to life, transforming a 50,000 square foot space within the MTCC into an “ethereal representation” of his work.

Created by Normal Studio and produced by Beyond Exhibitions Inc., the experience uses music, sound effects, and scenography to expand Monet’s art beyond the canvas.

“This exhibition is beyond anything you’ve seen,” said Jeffrey Latimer of producing partner JL Entertainment.

“It is a truly multi-sensory immersive experience that offers guests a dreamlike romantic journey through Monet’s world of masterpieces. Sharing this unique spectacle with Canadians for its world premiere is quite an honour for us.”

The show’s expansive space within the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will allow visitors to safely physically distance. A time ticketed system will ensure capacity limits are maintained.

Registration is open for early access to tickets, and guests can stay tuned for an official opening date.

For every ticket sold to Beyond Monet, one dollar will go towards the newly-launched Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) Fellowship, which aims to magnify the creative vision and voices of the BIPOC community.
