Amazon’s original series, American Gods just announced its release date.

The television series is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s award-winning novel and was filmed in Toronto and Guelph over the last year.

The incoming series from creators Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, follows the story of Shadow Moon, an ex-convict and recent widower played by Ricky Whittle who meets a mysterious man, Mr. Wednesday played by Ian McShane.

A press release from Amazon sums up the premise as follows:

Left adrift by the recent death of his wife, and hired as Mr. Wednesday’s bodyguard, Shadow finds himself in the center of a world that he struggles to understand—a hidden world where magic is real, where the Old Gods fear both irrelevance and the growing power of the New Gods. Mr. Wednesday seeks to build a coalition of Old Gods to defend their existence in this new America, and reclaim some of the influence that they’ve lost.

And it looks amazing. The series debuts on Prime Video and will be available for binge-watching as of May 1. Watch the trailer below to start getting excited…
