Ho Ho Ho! Long time actor Kurt Russel is putting on the red suit for this new Netflix Christmas movie that is filming in Toronto until the end of March. Joining Russell on set is Big Little Lies, child actress Darby Camp, and Judah Lewis. Currently being called 12/24, the movie is said to be about two siblings who try to prove that Santa is real, only to have things go horribly wrong.
Shazam!
The next DC Extended Universe movie Shazam! began filming in Toronto in February and will continue into May. The new superhero film will star Zachary Levi, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Mark Strong among others.
Polar
Polar will begin filming in Toronto this March through to April. This new action thriller stars Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick, and Matt Lucas and is said to be based on the graphic novel Polar: Came From the Cold by Victor Santos.
Descendant
Starring Orange is the New Black star Taylor Schilling, Descendant will begin filming in Toronto this March through to April. The new movie is about a young mother who believes that her eight-year-old son may have supernatural capabilities.
Secrets from the Russian Tea Room
This new movie will start filming in Toronto at the end of March through to April. Secrets from the Russian Tea Room will tell the story of four different people who are all suffering through the worst times in their life, and stars Zoe Kazan, and Tahar Rahim.
Sunny
Starring Sharon Stone, Sunny will be on location in Toronto through to July. Stone will play the lead role of Sunny in this dark thriller about a wealthy women whose life isn’t what it seems.
Anne with an E – Season 2
Based on the book Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud, Anne with an E began filming in Toronto this past October and will wrap up production at the end of March. Cast members include Amybeth McNulty as main character Anne, along with Christian Martyn, and Stephen Tracey.
Big Brother Canada – Season 6
The show that many Canadians love, or simply love to hate, is filming in Toronto this March with a whole new season of reality TV chaos. Season six of Big Brother Canada will have a heaven/hell theme, along with four potential wildcard house guests that will come into the house as an ‘angel’ or ‘devil’.
Designated Survivor – Season 2
Renewed for a second season in May, Designated Survivor is back in production in Toronto and will continue through to April. Notable cast members in this political drama series include Kiefer Sutherland, Kal Penn, Zoe McLellan, and Breckin Meyer.
Killjoys – Season 4 & 5
The series Killjoys will be in production in Toronto through to September for its fourth and fifth season. While fans still have a few more seasons to enjoy, it has been announced that season five will be the show’s last.
Shadowhunters – Season 3
Shadowhunters will be in production in Toronto for its third season, which is set to premiere on March 20th. The series centers around a young woman who finds out that she comes from a long lineage of Shadowhunters, who fight demons.
Ransom – Season 2
CBS’s Ransom will be filming season two in Toronto through to May. The series centers around crisis and hostage negotiator Eric Beaumont, played by Luke Roberts, and his team as they work to solve cases surrounding kidnap and ransom. Filming for the second season will take place in both Toronto and Budapest, Hungary.
The Umbrella Academy – Season 1
Based on the comic book series The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way, this new series will be filming its first season in Toronto till mid July. Notable cast members include Mary J. Blige, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper and David Castañeda. The series follows a somewhat dysfunctional family of superheros as they try to figure out how their father died.
Titans – Season 1
Titans has been filming its first season in Toronto since November and will continue into May. Starring Minka Kelly, Brenton Thwaites and Anna Diop, the new series is about a group of superheros led by Nightwing — the grown up version of the original boy to become Batman’s sidekick, Robin.
