What to eat in and around Seattle today: The Salmon Cooker

May 27 2020, 7:19 pm

Satisfy your seafood cravings by the catches at The Salmon Cooker at Pier 57.

Located at Miners Landing, the restaurant features salmon, halibut, and cod from the northwest and Alaska that’s traditionally cooked over a wood fire.

Alongside their regular takeout menu, Chef Nick Novello is offering up a special copper river salmon dish, which allows you to try all the best cuts of fish — including the belly meat which is usually saved for kitchen staff to take home.

Start your order with crabcakes, a prawn or crab cocktail, or a few crabs legs. If you’re feeling like warming up your palette with something a little heartier, give the classic creamy chowder or the salmon cooker red chowder a shot. Both can be served in a cup, bowl, or bread bowl.

Next, pick between tasty salads, fish and chips, tacos, burgers, or sandwiches.

The spot offers six types of fish sandwiches: crispy halibut, crispy salmon, crispy Alaskan pollock, smoked cod, smoked halibut, and smoked salmon, as well as a regular classic cheeseburger, a grubstake burger, crispy chicken sandwich, or sourdough BLT.

If you’re wanting to get the best of The Salmon Cooker, go for one of their Alderwood smoked plates served with coleslaw, lemon, tartar sauce, sourdough roll, and rice pilaf. The plates come in single-serving sizes, as well as family-style plates which feed three to four.
