While you technically can’t travel to a faraway destination to stargaze, New Zealand is offering the next best thing with an incredible livestream of the Matariki stars.

On July 20, New Zealand will be inviting the world to witness the Matariki also known as Pleiades (its ancient Greek name), the Seven Sisters, or Messier 45 (M45) by astronomers.

Matariki is one of the brightest star clusters in the sky and is located in a straight line just north of Orian’s Belt.

The event will also tie into the celebration of the Māori. To witness this incredible phenomenon live from Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Skye Reserve all you have to do is tune into the Pure New Zealand Facebook Page on Monday, July 20 from 1:30 to 2 pm ET/10:30 am to 11 am PT. It will be hosted by former All Black, Isreal Dagg who will share the story, myths and legends of the Matariki star cluster.

So grab some popcorn, a blanket, turn off the lights for good measure and stargaze away.
