Small business spotlight: Glass Distillery

Jul 27 2020, 6:31 pm

Appreciating the Pacific Northwest through vodka is exactly what Glass Distillery founder Ian G. MacNeil does — his goal was to create a vodka that was “pure, smooth and artfully crafted, with a deep appreciation for the environment from which it was born.”

Unlike most vodkas these days, which are made from sorghum, corn, rice, rye or wheat, Glass Distillery vodka is distilled from grapes harvested from the soils of the Pacific Northwest.

The distillery currently sells six spirits and four vodka sodas.

Those looking to stick with classic spirits should try the Glass Vodka, which begins “with a lightly floral nose and highlighting initial honeysuckle and citrus notes.” For something sweeter, go for the Glass Nectar Vodka: glass vodka infused with hand-gathered honey. Glass Spice Vodka is infused with Sri Lankan Ceylon cinnamon.

Coffee lovers will enjoy the Glass Kona Vodka, infused with cold-brewed Keala Hapuna coffee.

Those looking to try a wheat and grape-based vodka can get the Gridiron Vodka, which was rated SIP Northwest Magazine’s “Best Vodka of the Pacific Northwest,” or the Selkirk charred oak-barrel rested vodka, which is a limited release.
