Seattle Pride events to be held virtually this year

Rather than canceling all pride parades and events this summer, organizers behind Seattle Pride have announced their decisionĀ to shift this year’s celebrations to a series of online events.

These celebrations include the 2020 Seattle Pride Parade, Seattle Pridefest at City Center, Trans Pride Seattle, Youth Pride, Latinx Pride, and more.

The decision was made with safety in mind after discussions with local public health officials and the City of Seattle, organizers said.

Seattle Pride is currently deciding which events to continue running this year and will post an updated schedule some time in the coming month. The organizers are calling on Seattle residents to fill out a surveyĀ answering which Seattle Pride events you’d like to see go virtual.

“We are so thankful for our Pride family and partners, and for your continued support as we now shift towards creating a different kind of Pride celebration ā€“ but one which continues to celebrate diversity and bring us together when we need it most,” said Seattle Pride in an online announcement.

Although all June events are going virtual, Seattle Pride, Seattle PrideFest, and Trans Pride are continuing to work together to plan in-person events for the late-summer when it may be safe to resume festivals.
