7 places to get authentic Vietnamese pho in Seattle

Mar 11 2021, 12:20 am

When it comes to well-seasoned, comforting, and warm liquid eats, nothing puts you in a state of bliss quite like a steaming hot bowl of Vietnamese pho.

The traditional soup is typically fragrant, loaded with tender meat (or veggies if you’re plant-based) and soft-textured noodles.

Here’s our list of where to find delicious, slurp-worthy, and authentic pho in Seattle:

Pho An

Pho An has an awesome array of noodle soups. We love the regular pho with rare beef and beef balls, although their pho with shrimp and pho with pork wontons are a close second.

Pho Viet Anh is a wonderful family-owned restaurant. The restaurant is owned by Carol, also known as Mommy Pham, who escaped communist Vietnam and started the restaurant with limited English and no business background. Not only will your stomach be happy eating at this family-owned spot, but so will your heart, knowing that you’re supporting such a wonderful eatery.

The menu at Billiard Hoang is going to overwhelm you — we’re sure of that. Stick to the pho, however, and you’ll be happy and set. We love the oxtail pho, it’s perfect with basil, jalapeño, lime, onion, and cilantro.

Pho Hanoi

Pho Hanoi has unbeatable pricing and an awesome menu. We love their spicy pho, but be warned, you may need to order milk or ask for it to be a little less spicy. Of course, their beef pho reigns supreme with jalapeño, beansprouts, and basil.

Pho Hai Yen is so authentic that they don’t even have proper social media pages. Yes, in this day and age, that’s how we rank authenticity. From the outside, Pho Hai Yen may not scream delicious, but when you’re slurping the final noodles from your bowl, you’ll realize that you were so wrong.

Dong Thap Noodles

Choose between 15 bowls of pho at Dong Thap Noodles. Most bowls of noodle soup cost less than $10 and fill you up for hours. The spot even has a kids pho without the complicated fixings.

If you’re vegetarian or vegan, we suggest Huong Duong. Besides a standard veggie pho, you can also create a custom pho with your own selection of veggies and toppings.
