After congratulating President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris during a press conference Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he was the first international leader to speak with the president-elect.

According to Trudeau, he and Biden discussed the importance of the unique Canada-US partnership, working together to fight the global coronavirus pandemic, and supporting a sustainable economic recovery in both countries and the rest of the hemisphere.

The two leaders are looking forward to working together on topics such as migration, global security, and fighting climate change. They are also planning on working closely within NATO and the G7.

Both have also agreed on the importance of addressing anti-Black racism and have planned on staying in close contact.
