With one of the worst air qualities in the world right now that doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon, several Seattle sites have temporarily shut their doors to the public.
In a news conference on Friday, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan urged the public to stay indoors and take precautions whenever possible. Most public city areas will be closed until Wednesday.
Apart from shutting down a number of services, the city has opened an additional shelter for the homeless and those seeking refuge from the smoke.
