A stunning display of lights took over Wuhan, Hubei, earlier this week as a tribute to the healthcare staff and frontline workers in the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to state-owned international broadcaster CGTN, a “midnight light show brightened up Wuhan’s skyline” on Wednesday, marking the first day after a hefty lockdown period.

“Health workers from provinces across China came to help the city fight the pandemic,” writes the media outlet.

Wuhan entered an almost 11-week lockdown on January 23. CNN reports that while “healthy residents and visitors will finally be allowed to leave [their homes],” a number of “restrictions within the city remain in place.”

The city’s lockdown lasted for 76 days.

Massive crowds ventured to the Huangshan mountain park in Anhui province on Saturday. Many people were equipped with face masks, anxious to be outside ofter an extensive and stringent lockdown period.
