US has active travel advisory for Canada due to "very high" level of COVID-19

With over 1 million COVID-19 cases in Canada, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging those in the US to avoid travel into its northern neighboring country.

The travel advisory has been in place for several months, warning travelers that “because of the current situation in Canada, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.”

The border between the two countries has been closed to non-essential travel since the pandemic began in March of 2020.

If travel into Canada cannot be avoided, the CDC is recommending to get fully vaccinated before traveling, continued mask use, staying at least six feet apart from others, avoiding crowds, and washing hands frequently.

The CDC currently has the same advisory in place for multiple other countries, including Venezuela, Uruguay, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Syria, Mexico, France, Brazil, and many more.
