Throwback Thursday: The slopes of Mount Hood

Mar 5 2020, 11:35 pm

One mystical mountain near Portland has always been considered a fundamental guardian of Rose City, and that’s Mount Hood.

A lot of Portlandians have visited the famous mountain for all sorts of winter and wilderness activities, and it has been a fixture in photographs of the Portland skyline since the birth of this city met the launch of photography.

We found a few historical photographs of what winter sports on our lovely Mount Hood looked like dating as far back as 1936.

Home to the Timberline Lodge, and six different ski-slopes, Mount Hood has been instrumental in growing Oregonians’ passion for winter sports.

Forever a popular place to visit, Mount Hood gets its fair share of the spotlight, especially in today’s hungry photographer and influencer world.

Let’s take a peek (or peak.Ā Get it?) at Mount Hood through a modern lens.
