We’ve been curiously and lovingly watching the updates from the Oregon Zoo regarding their baby Red Panda. This week, the caretakers have named him. Pabu, the Red Panda, is already proving to be a real handful.
Born only a few weeks back, conservational standards dictate that organizations like the Oregon Zoo usually hold off on naming newborn animals until it is near certain that they will live, grow up, and become part of their family.
Their chosen name for the wee one comes from the animated show Avatar: The Legend of Korra, in which a friendly pet to one of the main characters (a fire ferret) is named Pabu.

At such a young age (a little over a month old now), Pabu is proving to live up to his reputation as an adorable troublemaker, which can be clearly seen in this video posted to Twitter in which the social media team at the zoo failed to come up with words to describe his speedy tomfoolery.

The Oregon Zoo is currently open to the public, with reserved time slots, reduced capacity, and diligent cleanliness protocols.
So, next time you’re feeling a little down, consider heading over to the zoo and saying hello to Pabu, who is surely wild enough to put a smile on your face.
