Outstanding Oregon: Multnomah Falls is what dreams are made of

Feb 21 2020, 5:26 pm

Last week, we featured the Columbia River Gorge, a rather large scenic area just a short drive East of Portland. Now, we zoom in to that region just a little bit to pluck out one of the most gorgeous waterfalls in all of America, let alone the outstanding state of Oregon.

Possibly the most Instagram-worthy veil of falling water around, Multnomah Falls will always be a highlight of any scroll through local photos.

Just along the 84, Multnomah Falls is a tiny hike from their very convenient parking lot alongside the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway. However, thanks to a nearly 1000 meter climb in elevation, the 2.2-mile hike can be considered slightly above an amateur trail.

Once you get there, though, every second of this rather easy-to-reach waterfall is worth it. Just look at this stunning view.

For your own safety, please make sure you are prepared before heading out on your next adventure. Information on how to prepare for your trip and stay safe while on your hike is available from OregonStateParks.org and PortlandOregon.govAlways remember to leave no trace, pack out what you pack in, stick to designated trails, and refrain from feeding wildlife — and please note that irresponsibly-taken selfies (even if they look great for the ‘gram) can be fatal
