Oregon nears 700 fatalities due to coronavirus

On Monday, the Oregon Health Authority confirmed 557 new known cases of COVID-19, along with one additional virus-related death.

At the time of writing, the total number of known cases in Oregon sits at 45,978 with 692 deaths.

According to Oregon Health Authority, the new cases are in the following counties: Benton (one), Clackamas (93), Clatsop (three), Columbia (one), Coos (one), Crook (two), Curry (four), Deschutes (30), Douglas (six), Jackson (17), Jefferson (one), Klamath (one), Lake (one), Lane (12), Lincoln (one), Linn (11), Malheur (seven), Marion (60), Multnomah (199), Polk (11), Tillamook (one), Umatilla (13), Union (one), Wasco (five), Washington (71), and Yamhill (four).

“Oregon’s 692nd COVID-19 death is a 90-year-old woman in Multnomah County who tested positive on Oct.24 and died on Oct.25, in her residence. She had underlying conditions,” reads the OHA update.

OHA has updated a report analyzing the totality of pediatric coronavirus cases in the state of Oregon since the beginning of the pandemic. Of confirmed and presumptive cases in Oregon, 4,901 of the 45,000 cases (just over 11%) have been pediatric patients, defined as people under age 18.
