Oregon reports 142 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, two new deaths
On Friday, the Oregon Health Authority confirmed 142 new known cases of COVID-19 and two new fatalities.
At the time of writing, the number of known cases in Oregon sits at 5,377, with 173 deaths.
According to Oregon Health Authority, the new cases reported today are in the following counties: Clackamas (nine), Columbia (three), Deschutes (two), Hood River (three), Jackson (two), Klamath (two), Lincoln (14), Marion (29), Multnomah (36), Polk (nine), Umatilla (five), Union (four), Wasco (three), and Washington (21).

“Oregon’s 173rd COVID-19 death is a 68-year-old man in Multnomah County, who tested positive on June 1 and died on June 10 at Adventist Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions,” reads the update from the OHA.
“Higher case counts serve as a reminder that Oregonians need to continue to maintain physical distancing, wear face coverings where physical distancing cannot be maintained and follow good hand hygiene.”
The OHA is also reminding people that federal authorities continue to recommend wearing masks in public, and that “staying home and avoiding all non-essential contact with others continues to be the most important thing all of us can do to stay healthy and keep others healthy.”
The restrictions in an executive order passed down by Governor Kate Brown have recently seen loosening. Instituting a new phased reopening plan, the state will reevaluate how to approach the coronavirus on a county-by-county basis as businesses look to reopen.
Counties maintaining a minimum of Phase 1 requirements can apply to begin Phase 2 soon.
