Olympia Beer stops production after an iconic 125 years

The pandemic has claimed another business, this time, it’s Olympia Beer.

According to the beer brand, which is owned by California-based Pabst Brewing Company, a decline in demand has led to the company making the difficult decision to temporarily pause the production of the beer.

Instead, they will be focusing on their Olympia Artesian Vodka, which won two gold medals and took home the title of Washington State Vodka Distillery of the Year in 2020.

Olympia Beer was founded in Tumwater 125 years ago and added vodka to its production in 2020, during the start of the pandemic.

“Our vodka was always meant to complement our beer,” reads an Instagram post from the company. “We were proud to breathe new life into the brand and open a new chapter for Olympia in the region, one that started with us bottling hand sanitizer for our community during the covid pandemic.”

The company is hoping to continue brewing Olympia Beer in the future, once they find a solution to the decrease in demand.
