You can also purchase lovely little handmade crafts and arts made by Scandinavian artists and take family pictures with Joulupukki, or Finnish Santa Claus.

ScanFair also has booths where you can learn more about Scandinavian culture and language. And if you’re feeling especially famished, you can compete in the all-you-can-eat pickled-herring contest!

The event will also have delicious food offerings like Danish aebleskiver (apple pancake balls), Swedish meatballs with lingonberries, pickled herring and flat bread, rice pudding and fruit soup, hot dogs, and coffee.

The highlight of this two day event is the crowning of Lucia, or the “Queen of Light” at 12 pm on Sunday. The Lucia Bride will win a $2,500 scholarship to the college of her choice, in addition to holding court with other Lucia applications for a whole year.
