Over 1,000 people have now died from coronavirus in the US

With known COVID-19 cases nearing 80,000 across the United States, the fatality count has now exceeded 1,000.

Though the state-side death toll has not reached the numbers of other countries, White House Coronavirus Task Force medical consultants like Dr. Anthony Fauci continue to implore citizens to do more to stem the spread.

“We have not reached our peak,” said Fauci during a press conference just over ten days ago. The climb, as it were, has yet to look as though it is leveling off.

Initial hotbed Washington State has since fallen down the list of affected areas in the US now that massively populated areas like New York City, Los Angeles, and New Orleans have all seen an immense spread amongst their communities.

With over 33,000 known cases and nearly 300 deaths, New York is currently the hardest-hit area in the United States. Neighbors in New Jersey are beginning to see the impact of this “hot zone” in New York, having declared a state of emergency on Thursday.

The Center for Disease Control remains vigilant that US citizens can have the most impact on the spreading of this virus, reminding Americans every day to maintain proper and extreme hygiene protocols.

State governments around the country have issued isolation and quarantine directives as the spread of coronavirus continues to hit certain areas in different waves, with various growth patterns.

Washington State was the first to close its schools, and one of the earliest states to issue a “stay-at-home” order.

The White House Coronavirus Task Force continues to update the press daily regarding healthcare equipment and testing progress.

Current known cases in the United States sit at 75,233 at the time of writing, with the death toll at 1,070, according to John Hopkins University.
