Most people don’t associate Christmas with candy, not by a long shot. Christmas instead, is all about decadent chocolate logs, heady glasses of mulled wine, Christmas pudding, and of course, the star of the holiday season, the turkey.
Candy, however, is not just for Halloween. Turns out that Americans are not only consuming candy (and a lot of it) during Christmas, but there are also some candies that are dominating the nation when it comes to the rate of consumption per state.
Candystore.com released their annual ranking of the top Christmas candies per state in the country, and this year Oregon’s top three favorites were Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, candy canes, and Snickers.
Reese’s Cups are incredibly popular across the entire nation, according to the website’s release, and showed up consistently as one of the top three favorite candies — more than any other candy.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. Why wouldn’t anyone love chocolate cups filled with peanut butter?
