Afuri Izakaya in Beaverton reopens with "open air dining"

Jul 7 2020, 8:10 pm

Beloved Japanese eatery Afuri Izakaya has reopened its Beaverton space to the public thanks to an expanded outdoor patio dining area.

Afuri — one of our favorite places to get a bowl of ramen — had been offering patrons take-home kits during the economic shutdown period.

Now, Portland’s premier Japanese food is reopening with widened outdoor space. Updated business hours moving forward will be 4 pm to 10 pm from Monday to Friday, and 12 pm to 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

For now, it looks like it will just be the Beaverton location that has in-house (or house-adjacent) dining. However, all of Afuri’s locations in the area (including the Ramen and Dumpling house) will continue to serve takeout.

With regulations stating that capacity limits will remain in effect, alongside distancing rules, Portland’s booming and beautiful food industry is adapting to help bring life back into dining rooms. The Safe Streets, Healthy Businesses program promotes the use of sidewalk and parking areas for expanded dining options.
