There are 75 active workplace coronavirus outbreaks reported in Oregon

Oregon’s weekly COVID-19 report includes a list of active workplace outbreaks.

The Oregon Health Authority mentions that the presence of both agricultural and corrections facilities on this list confirms the difficulty in controlling coronavirus in situations where people are forced to live or work in close proximity to one another.

“Employers can support their workers with policies that ensure that ill workers are not in the workplace and are not penalized for taking sick leave,” writes the OHA. “Employers should ensure that workers are aware of and understand these policies.”

“There have been 35 deaths and 8,172 cases associated with all workplace outbreaks that have been reported to date. To protect patient privacy, OHA does not report employee deaths by workplace. Cases that are associated with more than one workplace outbreak will be reported in the case count for all relevant workplace outbreaks.”

Currently, the Snake River Correctional Institute remains atop the list of active outbreaks with 526 cases. More than 10 locations have an outbreak of just five cases, including the Jackson County Costco, Mary’s Harvest Fresh Foods in Multnomah, and the Culver Glass Company.
